Lock-up

What is Lock-up, or Plate Gap, on a Business Forms Press
Business Forms need a minimum non-printing
area to accomodate Plate Gap

Lock-up, or Plate Gap, is the area where a printing plate is attached to the plate cylinder.

Because the plate is bent and inserted into the cylinder, it cannot carry an image in this area.

What is Lock-up, or Plate Gap, on a Business Forms Press

The lock-up area measures 3/8". To account for the plate gap, leave a minimum 3/8" non-printing area on your form.
